My name is Nancy Kraska and I am the owner of this blog. Writing about myself is hard for me as I don’t want to brag. I take that back, I love to brag, just not about me. My family I will brag about endlessly!
40 years ago when I graduated from college with a degree in Business it never occurred to me that I would be using it this way, as a matter of fact 40 years ago not many people could imagine doing business through a computer. Now everything is done on a computer!
So after college I got a job with United Airlines, got married had 4 children over the course of 10 years, stayed home with the children, worked when times were tough at various jobs, put all 4 children through college, husband retired, I went to work part-time in a office setting. Over the course of five years I put the knowledge that I had learned in college and life to work for me. I became the Office Manager of a small but very profitable Carpet Cleaning Company. I worked with the owner of the company on some of the Marketing campaigns. During this time I learned about running a small business, marketing, and that my original decision to stay home and raise children was truly my calling. I don’t like bosses on a boss level. I liked the people I worked for on a personal level, I just don’t like bosses in general.
After five years the owner retired, the new owner decided to start firing everyone who didn’t agree completely with her. As I started to see co-workers getting fired one after another I decided that the best thing for me to do was go my own way. Which I am glad I did. By this time my husband had settled into retirement and wasn’t going to drive me crazy (a wife would understand what it is I am talking about) so it was time for me to retire.
It wasn’t long before I started looking for something other than television to occupy my mind. Although the money from my husbands pension and Social Security was adequate to fulfill our financial obligations, there wasn’t alot left over at the end of the month. I was still too young to collect my Social Security, so I looked elsewhere for an income. That is when I discovered working online.
It has been a new learning experience. One which I have relished! Imagine my surprise when I found out that I knew more than I thought I did about running a small profitable business! Every day brings a new experience! You will hear on the Internet about the best thing being no bosses and while that is certainly true the most rewarding aspect for me is being home and doing my own “thing”.
