Blog Writing

Do you know what the most difficult aspect of blogging is?  It is coming up with new and unique content every day or every week.  And yet there are thousands of sites on the Internet that offer free content.  So why not use them!

If you are new to blogging, then by all means use these sites. They help with good quality content for both your blog and your website.  However, be very careful not to plagiarize.  If you are going to reprint the content verbatim then use the resource box at the end of the article, do not claim the article was your own.  This will get you in a lot of trouble.

That being said, I also would like to point out that most of the articles I have read are repeats of other articles only in different words.  So essentially you are rewriting the same article over and over.  There might be a different spin on the subject, different wording, different conclusions, but the core of the articles are the same.  No matter if it is about affiliate marketing, advertising, a certain program…the core of the article is to sell.

So how do you come up with unique articles for your blog if you don’t have experience?  You pick a subject and read as many articles on that subject as you can handle, then you write your own article.  Yes, you are giving the same old article your spin, the difference is because you read more than one article on the subject, you have been exposed to different viewpoints, and your spin will be different than everyone elses, making your article more unique.

I have started to write more about my experiences, rather than someone elses’.  Of course, I have been marketing online for eight years, so I have learned a little something.  I have found that if I write an article using my words and thoughts, it gets more attention.  If I am just repeating thoughts from another article, then the article does not get as much attention.  Since article writing and blogging are for the purpose of promoting you affiliate programs, you want the attention.  It is a terrific form of free advertising.

Blogging has become extremely popular in the past couple of years.  So much so that alot of webmasters are using their blogs as their main websites.  You can blog about anything you desire.  My neice, for instance, blogs about her family and her experience raising two active children.  She advertises her affiliate programs in the side columns.  She is making money and has readers from around the world.  Another friend blogs about her sons struggles with autism.  Her site is devoted to helping others parents cope with this dreadful disease.  She too has affiliate programs and products in her side columns, and makes money from them.

Blog about anything you want, write about anything you want, it doesn’t have to be about your affiliate programs.  Those you can sneak in on the side columns of your blog.  Use your blog to advertise your business, whether it is in the form of ads in the side columns, or writing about a program that you found interesting.  Write about how you started your work at home business and the reason behind your decision.

Blogging is your key to open the door to internet marketing.  That’s a good tag line…

Starting A Home Based Business

You have seen and read about the many opportunities on the Internet and have decided you want to take part in the Internet Boom! Well, why not?  I am sure someone once said to Bill Gates that his idea for a “computer” was nonsense.  He didn’t give up, why should you!

So let us start with the basics.  Once you have decided to work from home, you should spend some time in laying the groundwork. You need to decide which home business would interest you and what type of business would be the most realistic for you given your current financial situation.  My very first home-based business was SFI (Strong Future International), I worked it for two years, and although they have excellent training and support, I really struggled.  It wasn’t until I found Top Online Profits (http://tinyurl.com/35cu2s) that the whole home business idea started to take shape.  This is an ideal program for someone like me who had no previous experience with building and marketing a website.

Whatever you do…don’t make the mistake so many make of rushing into the first work at home opportunity that promises huge profits for very little effort.  These “opportunities” never deliver what they promise.  If you want to earn a good income online you have to earn it, like any other business.  No one online makes a huge profit overnight; it takes work, determination, and a small investment. After all this is a business.  Pick something you will enjoy doing, try and match your interest with that of the company you are sponsoring.  If you don’t enjoy your work, it will cease to be fun, and you won’t earn money.

A work at home person is no different than someone who works in an office.  We work because we need money.  We have to earn it.  The great thing about working from home is that you are the boss; you keep all of the profits from your company.

Of course with all this freedom to work when you want, also comes the responsibility.  If the profits don’t come in, you have no one to blame.  So start out the right way and your business plan will most likely stay on track for you.  Start by creating good working habits at the beginning and you won’t have to go back later and try to break the bad habits.  Spend a little time each day, working on your home business, and leave some time for you and your family.  After all this is why you want to work from home.

Make a plan, write it out, and keep it in front of you at the computer.  Of course all plans can change if it isn’t working the way you want, but stick as close to the original as you can.  You want to stick as close to your original plan as you can.  The best thing you can do as you start your new venture is to prepare, research, and have a business plan.   I have a large sign in front of me every time I sit down at my computer.  It says,  “I AM THE BOSS!”

And the last thing I would like to mention is your browser.  You will be spending a lot of time on the Internet so you need a good browser.  Internet Explorer, although a very good browser, is more prone to viruses, trojans, spyware, adware, and popups.  The last three will not do serious damage to your computer, but they will slow it done.  I have always used Mozilla Firefox, there are others like Crazy Browser, and Opera, but I have never used them.  My experience with Mozilla Firefox is a personal preference. I also have never had trouble with popups, or spyware.    With Firefox I can have as many sites opened at one time, as I need to work.  With just a click of the mouse I can go back and forth between windows.  It makes it very easy when I am checking my stats, or advertising.

THE POWER OF THE INTERNET

People talk about the power of the Internet. But what does that really mean to most people? Let me try and explain what it means to me then form your own opinion on what it means to you and why you use the Internet.

The Internet is without a doubt a powerful tool. It enables us to reach people and places we dream about, while remaining virtually unknown. We can express our feelings, as long as they are not against the law, to complete strangers without fear of ridicule. Even if that other person doesn’t agree with you or your opinions it doesn’t seem to matter, because the chances of you ever meeting this person is astronomical!

As an Internet Marketer advertising my home business, the Internet has enabled me to meet people with the same shared ideas. We all come from different backgrounds and different beliefs, but as a group we are united in our goals. These are people I would have never come to know if it were not for the Internet.

A lot has been on the news media about how bad the Internet is and it should be regulated. Here is a thought on that particular subject. Once you start regulating peoples thoughts and friendships, where does it end? While I agree that sites that are sexually explicit need to be monitored for obvious reasons, I do not feel it is the right of “big brother” telling me which sites are sexually explicit. Obviously, I am not referring to child pornography, or a site showing abuse. These people should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law in whatever country it is coming from. I guess I am uncomfortable with government telling me what is appropriate for me to read or think. I have free will and a mind of my own, I would rather decide for myself what I look at. This particular subject can and will open a whole new can of worms, let me just say I am not in favor of any pornography, abuse or racially biased website. When it comes to children looking at such sites, where are the parents?

This brings up another thought: How do you regulate another countries Internet use? As a nation of free people you cannot and should not tell another country how to live. You should encourage world leaders to follow your example, not shove it down their throats! (Another can of worms)

As you can see from my ramblings, the Internet is a great place for sharing ideas and opinions without the arguments! I am sure most of you agree with me concerning the statements above, some have different view points on how to handle the problems. The Internet enables us to share and discuss these ideas without causing loss of friendships. Because lets face it, you don’t make friends on the Internet, you make acquaintances. You will 99% of the time never meet the people you converse with over the Internet.

I would just like to say in closing that I have made very good acquaintances through the Internet. A few are more caring about myself and my family than some of my offline friends. I can be more open with the acquaintances on the Internet than some of my offline friends. That is the beauty of the Internet…
