Success With Affiliate Marketing

Having someone else decide your future does not appeal to people who like to decide their own future. These are the type of people who want to steer their own course for the future; being able to take the path any way they want. They want to follow their dreams not someone else’s and are ready to take an adventure that will last a lifetime.

This very mindset is the reason why more people are joining one of the most popular online businesses-affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing affords the individual an opportunity to decide their own future while helping others decide theirs. There are no time schedules, no commutes, and no one to tell you about the work that has to be done. The be an independent affiliate marketer you only need a desire to succeed in this type of business and you will achieve all you have dreamed about. Desire and time is all that is needed to follow your dreams.

So other than desire and dreams is there anything else you need to succeed in affiliate marketing? What do you need to do in order to be successful in this industry? First of all you need to be aware that there is a lot of competition, so you need to find your niche and strive to be above the herd.

Through my own experience I have broken it down to 5 essentials tools to achieve the satisfaction that only comes when you achieve your goals. These 5 tools are a must for anyone to have if they are going to stand out from the rest of the crowd.

1. Learn and be trained: For those who have never done anything like this before you will be in unfamiliar territory and it can be scary if you are not properly trained; you could get lost in the herd of affiliate marketers online. You will need to learn the tricks of the trade for every aspect of the marketing game. You will also need a to understand that knowledge will give you an advantage over others in this business.

2. Willingness to invest time and effort even if you don’t see results. Many times people give up too soon and the results are just around the corner. It might be several months before you will even see that first results in the form of profit. Patience and perseverance are important. It is those qualities that will stop someone from giving up after investing a lot of there selves into the business.

3. Self-determination. You have set the goal of success in affiliate marketing therefore you must have the ability to keep pushing yourself. Never having to say quit is a quality each and every affiliate marketer should possess, and the ability to motivate oneself into reaching new goals is an ability that would actually take an affiliate marketer to their set goals.

4. Discipline. Teach yourself to work each and every day with all the enthusiasm you can gather, then you are close to achieving what you have set your heart to having in the first place.

5. Optimism. Negative attitudes and hearsays have no place in an affiliate marketer life and in making that life better for himself and for everyone concerned. Never allow outside influences your attitude toward the business; because once you start a business, you must be the head of the company and the leader of all it entails.

The components to success in any online business such as affiliate marketing are varied, but the most important thing one needs to be able to make it big lies in the individual. It is the individual who has the ability to do everything that will ultimately lead to prospects, and the desire, which feeds his drive, is the fuel that will keep the affiliate marketer going.

Affiliate marketing is all about putting one’s destiny into one’s own hands. The right attitude is the key to being able succeed in an unfamiliar territory where peace of mind will be found.

Starting A Home Sewing Business

For those individuals who want to work from home, finding paid home employment is not always easy to find. That is why so many are choosing to start their own home business. One excellent way of making money from home, providing you are good at sewing, is to start your own sewing business. Everything from tailoring, embroidery, knitting, crocheting, specialty items all can be a foundation for a profitable and fun home based business.

At one time home sewing was done on big, noisy industrial machines and the person doing the sewing was paid on a per piece basis. Now this type of work at home jobs are less common because companies are shipping this type of work overseas and having it done for less money.

When I think of sewing as a home based business the first items that come to mind are wedding dresses. Brides want the most unique and one of a kind wedding dress for their special day, added to that one of a kind bridesmaid dresses. If you have the expertise for this type of dressmaking, put it to use as your home based business.

If you feel you cannot make wedding dresses then another way to make money with your sewing would be to provide a service to local dry cleaners for garment repair and alterations. It is a sad commentary on todays society that we throw away items that can be repaired. But there are still those of us around who would rather put in a new zipper or repair a hem of a perfectly good garment than throw it away. Check with your local dry cleaner to see if this is a service that you can provide for them.

Those of us who can’t sew far outweigh those who can; it is the nature of today’s society, thirty, even forty years ago that would not have been the case. People are too busy today to think about making something from hand for the home or personal use. This is why making one of a kind slipcover, bedspreads, and window dressings would make a very profitable home business for the right person. For instance, I have a beautiful sewing machine that I rarely use simply because I do not enjoy sewing. My husband bought me the machine thinking that I would enjoy it. It is still beyond me why he thought I would, but there you have it. I can sew simple repairs, but making a simple valance for the window is more than I can handle. I don’t enjoy sewing and not ashamed to ask someone who does to do these tasks for me. It takes a special person who not only can do the work, but also enjoys it.

Several years ago a friend earned extra money by making stuffed animals and small stuffed toys. She sold them at various craft fairs, to those who were in need of a gift. She has a nice cottage industry going to supplement her retirement. I bought a hound dog for each of my four children from her years ago as Christmas gifts, the kids still have them as adults and are handing them down to their children. They are one of a kind heirlooms.

If you already sew then you more than likely have all the equipment you will need to start a small home based sewing business. Think about what kind of sewing you can do in the space you have, how you will get the word out that you do sewing in your home, where you would store your supplies; think it through and I am sure you can come up with lots of ideas on how to start your own home based sewing business. Aside from the necessary tools and accessories, your initial expenses will be for materials and advertising. Be sure and always ask for a small deposit when taking an order. It is also a good idea to have a small sample of your work available to show clients.

Depending on which avenue you intend to take with your new home-based sewing business will determine where and how to advertise. For instance, if you are making wedding dresses introduce yourself to local florist or wedding planner. Advertise with circulars, in local newspapers, on bulletin boards, in church papers, anywhere you can to get your name and service in the minds of your clients. Once you have satisfied customers they will help spread the word and your business will build.

Back to Basics

If you have worked at home for a while and have had success in the past but now seem to be floundering on the brink of frustration, then it is most likely something you are doing differently.  I know this seems like a simplistic concept, but true nonetheless.

I have been working online for over six years, largely with SFI and as an affiliate marketer for various companies.  About 4 years ago I developed my own website to market these products.   For the first two years I was very successful in earnings.  I knew I had found the key to unlock the online marketing phenomenon.  What happened then was something honest experienced Internet marketers will tell you is common.  The bottom fell out for no apparent reason.  Thankfully this is not my only source of income, but if it was I would be in dire straits.

Like any inexperienced marketer the first thing I did was blame the programs that I was promoting.  So I started reaching for programs that were “working” for others in the hopes they would bring some income in for me.  I crashed and burned in this approach.

Last fall a light bulb went off over my head and I asked myself some questions:

  • 1. Why did I still want to work online when I wasn’t making any money?
  • 2. Are the programs I am promoting attractive to the online marketplace?
  • 3. I made money before, why not now?
  • 4. What am I doing different now as opposed to three years ago?

These questions are important to think about if you are having the same problems, because the cause of your loss of income is in those questions.

1. Why did I still want to work online when I wasn’t making any money?

The answer is an obvious one for me…I like it.  I am retired, I have the time, I like the challenge of online marketing, I like meeting new people.

2. Are the programs I am promoting attractive to the online marketplace?

This one might take a little soul searching and self-analysis.  Why are you promoting them?  Would you purchase them?  Are they attractive to you as a consumer, forget the income side of the equation for now, think like a consumer.   Are these programs making any money for you?   How long have you been promoting them?  I figure if it is a program that I have promoted for 60 days and I have made no money from it, then I change it out, and put it on the backburner to be promoted at a later date, or eliminate altogether.

3. I made money before, why not now?

Something changed obviously.  But what was it?  We have already determined that the programs might be the cause, but what about how you market?  What has changed there, something must have to account for a loss of income.   Are you spending more than you are making on advertising?  That was a big one for me.   Are you marketing to those who would have an interest in your product?  Do you know enough about your product to promote it efficiently?  No one can tell you what the answer is but yourself.

4. What am I doing different now as opposed to three years ago?

It is time for self-reflection.  Go back (hopefully you kept records) and see where you advertised before, what the outcome was of this advertising.  What did you market and to whom?  All the little things you did before, are you still doing them?  Or have you become so “experienced” that you feel you have evolved into a “guru”?

I did all of the above and found in the past year and a half, I had started to fall into the familiar trap of hype programs that really had no substance.   I had changed my advertising from all free advertising to all paid advertising.   I stopped advertising my residual income programs and started promoting only the fly by night programs that have no proven track record.   I ignored the advice of my mentors and friends who offered advice.   I had become another statistic of online marketing.  I was no longer happy with what I was promoting.

For me being honest and happy in a business is paramount to success.  I have worked at “JOBS” that are not as rewarding as working from home.  Being my own boss is wonderful!  So when the profits started to fall I had no one to blame but myself; and there was no one to fix the problem but myself!

Starting January 1, 2010 it was back to basics with my home business.  I am happy to report a profit for the first time in six months.   This is due to no advertising costs, a more streamlined website with more affordable work at home ideas, and most important an emphasis on residual income in the form of Strong Future International and the development of a down line who is active and as excited as I am to be working online.

Making Money On eBay

Anyone can make money on eBay it is that easy. Selling items on eBay can be a very profitable business enterprise. If you are serious about a home business then you should seriously consider eBay as a source of online income. Are you curious on how it is done?

I am sure you have considered at one time or another selling unwanted items on eBay, but not sure how to get started. Basically eBay is an online garage sale. Anything and everything is sold on eBay. Selling unwanted items laying around your home is a good place for you to start making money on eBay.

In order to succeed with a home business on eBay one of the most important items is a good online reputation. Each eBay buyer is asked to rate transactions from individual business owners. Various aspects of the buying experience are rated such as: are the goods received what was described on the site, was the price accurate, did the business owner communicate with you, the overall experience of purchasing an item from the owner and would you do it again.

By eBay asking these questions and the buyers giving responses in a positive light your business will grow by reputation alone.

Selling unwanted items will mean you won’t need a budget for additional merchandise before you start to make a profit. You will receive full asking price for the items (including any shipping costs) before the item is sent to the buyer. Remember, postage costs are included in the price of the item.

Now that you have collected your unwanted items from around your home you need to do three things with the items before putting them for sale on eBay.

1. Take some good clear pictures of the items you are putting up for sale
2. Research similar items on eBay and make sure you don’t overprice your items
3. Calculate shipping costs so they can be added into the selling price of the item

This “practice” selling will give you an opportunity to practice writing precise descriptions of the item, pricing, and how shipping is handled.

This is just a start of your eBay business. Once you are familiar with all aspects of eBay you can then look for and sell items from various drop shipping companies and other online stores.

People from all walks of life are making money online using eBay. I personally know people who have made selling items on eBay their main source of income.
