WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BECOME AN EXPERT?

By | Oct 12, 2011

I guess when you come right down to it we are all expert at something. Right? When I started writing articles I didn’t know what to write about. Still don’t for the most part. I just get an idea and go with it. It’s that simple for me.

I know a little about most subjects, but not an expert on anything. You probably expect me to say “except” now. Except….. I still don’t know what I am an expert on.

So when the publishers of articles for ezines or other publishing say to write what you know…it opens a whole new world for me. Remember I know a little about most subjects. Just enough to get me in trouble.

I first decided to get into online marketing, well because I had this job where I set up the database for a small carpet cleaning company, and I worked on the marketing for the company with an “expert”. He worked for Sears Advertising before taking over the running of this company. So I guess he qualifies as an “expert” in marketing. I learned a lot from him, about how to approach your advertising.

So now I have the computer “knowledge” (I use the phrase very loosely), I do understand marketing, thanks to my tenure with carpet cleaning. I believe I forgot to mention that somewhere in my misbegotten youth I graduated from college with a Business Degree, which I put to use raising four children and running a household. What one has to do with the other is another story.

Work From Home

By | Oct 9, 2010

Freedom you want and the income you deserve is the reason behind working from home. Working from home will give you the opportunity to be there for your family and still get a few hours of work before bed. A work at home MLM business opportunity can be very attractive but you must be careful to select one that fits your needs.

Working at home started in the 1950′s with nutritional supplements, household products, and cosmetics. With the technology of the 1980′s the MLM opportunities became more popular with the development of insurance and long-distance telephone services. As technology improves so does the opportunities in the MLM industry.

The industry has expanded into credit cards, travel, and pre-paid legal services already MLM opportunities can adapt as technology evolves.

It is the combination of technology and old-fashioned salesmanship that makes MLM popular for everyone including those in the business world. You can earn money from the down line of your recruits’ sales and their recruits’ sales and so on.

Don’t let the bad reputation of MLM through media reports hold you back from this type of work at home venture. Many large companies including many mainstream companies use this type of sales legally and successfully.

There are many reasons to work from home with MLM.

  • No overhead
  • Advertising can be based on word of mouth
  • No inventory
  • No collections
  • No receivables
  • Do not have to have direct customer contact

What You Can Expect From An Online Business

By | Jan 15, 2009

Eight years ago I decided to start an online business, never knowing what that would entail. I truly believed the hype of a business running 24/7 by itself. How utterly naive I was.

Essentially an online business does run by itself, once it is set up. However, an online business is constantly changing. New challenges await the unwary behind every website. Not only does it keep changing and challenging you the business owner, but as your business evolves so do the challenges. How you adapt to these challenges and changes will determine whether your online business will succeed.

From my personal experience, once you decide on the home based business you want to involve yourself in, allow at least three months to learn new strategies, for some a new language (computer speak), and to improve the multitude of new things you will be learning to enable you to run your home business. Have patience these first three to six months as they will be over in a blink of an eye; you need this learning curve to succeed. You need to know what you are doing and how you are doing it to start to grasp the concept of your running a home based business, and not chasing the dream of owning one.

Working At Home Doesn’t Have To Be Online

By | Oct 31, 2008

Trying to find the right work at home business for yourself can be very hard.  The selection of work at home businesses is growing daily and choosing the right one for you can be overwhelming.

But it doesn’t have to be.  If you are still undecided about what you want to do with a work at home business, then make a list.  Write down what it is you like to do, what are your skills, how much money do you have to invest if any, will you need any equipment.

If what I do (Affiliate Marketing) doesn’t appeal to you, then there are other options. For instance, I have a friend who loves dogs and they seem to love her, she walks her own dog daily through all sorts of weather.  She wanted to work from home but doesn’t feel she has the skills to work online, so she started a dog sitting service.  She will take your dog into her home on a daily basis to “babysit” them.  She feeds them takes them for walks and spoils them shamelessly.  She charges between $200-$350 a week for a dog.  It depends on the size of the dog (she does limit it to 30 pounds), how many days a week she will have it, and how many hours.

She is able to do this because she has no small children at home during the day.  She makes between $500-$700 a week, the owners do not have to worry about their dogs when they are at work. She only works during the week and on her terms.  She provides a service that would otherwise not be there.
